Report due on traffic on Harpers Farm Road

The Howard County government will present a traffic consultant's report on ways to improve the safety and traffic flow on Harpers Farm Road, especially at Willow Bottom Drive.

The report will be given at the Harper's Choice Village Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kahler Hall. Information: 730-3888.

Poster contest open until Monday

A poster contest to celebrate "Columbia International Day -- A Multi-Cultural Experience" is being held through Monday.

The winning design will be used as a cover for note paper promoting Columbia's sister city program.

"Columbia International Day," which will be celebrated July 29, is sponsored by the Columbia Association to celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of Columbia.

Posters will be judged on how they exemplify the International Day theme of a multicultural community. Paper may be any size but not mounted. Any medium such as markers, paint or crayon is acceptable.

Applicants should sign their posters and tape cards on the backs with their names, addresses, phone numbers, ages and grades.

First-place and runner-up prizes will be awarded for the these age groups: 4 to 7, 8 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 18.

The cover-winning design will receive a $100 prize. Three other first-prize winners will receive $50.

A reception will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 29 in Kahler Hall in the Village of Harper's Choice to view the works and honor all participants.
