Competitors sought for Senior Olympics
The Maryland Senior Olympics is in its 16th year and invites seniors age 55 and older to participate in the various competitions. Seniors can choose from a range of events including aquatics, basketball, bowling, cycling, softball, tennis and track and field. Other events include billiards, horseshoes, softball, golf and more.
Participants compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age category: 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 49, 80 to 84, 85 to 89, 90 to 94 and 95 to 99.
The Maryland Senior Olympics will be from Oct. 5 to 7 at Towson State University.
A banquet and entertainment, The Senior Follies will be Oct. 6. Anyone with performing talent is invited to be a part of the follies.
Registration fee for the Maryland Senior Olympics is $27 and includes the banquet. Fee for the banquet only is $15. Deadline to register is Aug. 7. To receive a registration form, call the local office on aging, the local senior centers or call the State Office on Aging at (800) 243-3425
