Southwestern District police officers seized $20,000 worth of suspected heroin and cocaine and a .357-caliber Magnum handgun in a drug raid yesterday in West Baltimore that targeted two alleged major dealers.
Police arrested a man in his 20s and were seeking a second man, also in his 20s, last night. They did not release their names.
Using information from a two-month investigation, officers obtained a search and seizure warrant for a house in the 2800 block of Riggs Ave. in the Rosemont section, which they served about 4:30 p.m.
In the house, they recovered 300 vials of suspected cocaine, 50 bags of suspected heroin, an ounce of suspected raw heroin worth $9,000, about $2,000 and the handgun, police said.
The two men, who will likely be charged as drug kingpins, are accused of working an area around the intersection of Poplar Grove Street and Riggs Avenue, police said.
"These two guys are pretty much in control of a five-block area of Baltimore," said Sgt. William Davis, who investigated the suspected dealers with Officers Sean Kapthammer and Blane Vucci of the Southwestern District's flex team.
