Pasadena Sportfishing Group to meet

Those summer hibernation days are back again.

I must admit, though, this year's excuse for hiding in air-conditioned splendor is a little different: We're keeping dry.

People aren't tanning, they're rusting. And just about everything, whether it is supposed to be damp or not, has that clammy feel.

You can think quiet, cool thoughts at the monthly meeting of the Pasadena Sportfishing Group at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Orchard Beach fire hall, 7549 Solley Road.

The agenda for Monday's meeting will be varied, said George Bentz, group spokesman. Bill Hein, from Fishbone's Bait & Tackle on Mountain Road, will present information on feather-jigging and other fishing techniques.

Monday night will be the final sign up for the PSG's annual white perch rodeo, which is planned for July 15. Fees are $10 per boat, with the weigh-in at Sandy Point State Park. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Membership in the group is free and open to all anglers.

An auction of member's used fishing and boating equipment also will be conducted after the meeting.

Food, including a stuffed chicken breast platter for $3, will be on sale all evening.

Raffle tickets for door prizes and a 50/50 raffle also will be sold.

Information: Mr. Bentz, 255-3678.

St. Andrew's Episcopal and Emmanuel Lutheran churches have

combined efforts for an ecumenical vacation Bible school.

The program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, July 31 through Aug. 4 at St. Andrew's, 7859 Tick Neck Road. It is open to youngsters age 4 through sixth grade.

"Each day will be full of worship, music, crafts recreation, Bible stories and refreshments," said Christine Grieve, Bible school coordinator for Emmanuel.

Registration is $3 for the first child, $2 for each additional child. Forms are available from both churches. Adult volunteers are needed, too.
