A Severn woman surrendered her son to county police Tuesday after he told her about the theft of two television sets and a video cassette recorder, which were sold to buy drugs, officials said.
Marian Edmondson, 59, called police about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday to report the thefts. The television sets were taken on June 27 and the VCR about 7 p.m. Monday, police said. The television sets were valued at $600 and the VCR at $200.
The son also told Officer Michelle Mangold about the thefts, police said. The woman said she wanted to get her son help for his drug problem but also wanted him charged in the thefts, police said.
Trent Darand Moore, 30, who lives in the 1800 block of Richfield Drive, was charged with felony theft and misdemeanor theft, police said.
