Man sought in probation violation faces drug charge

A Pasadena man wanted for violation of probation in Calvert County was arrested on drug charges Sunday afternoon as he tried to leave Shirley Murphy Court in Freetown, county police said.

Cpl. August Hein and Officer Elizabeth Pusloskie were on foot patrol in the neighborhood about 4:45 p.m. when they saw a man leave an area in the 7800 block of Shirley Murphy Court that is known for drug dealing. When the man saw the officers, he quickly went to a Chevrolet truck driven by another man.

As the truck started to pull away, Corporal Hein noticed that it had several equipment violations. He stopped the truck and asked both men for identification, police said.

The officers learned that the passenger, Richard Brian Warf Sr. of the 300 block of San Gria Court, was wanted in Calvert County for violation of probation on a theft conviction.

He was taken to the Northern District, where Officer Michael Galligan found 15 pieces of suspected crack cocaine in his left shoe, police said.

The driver of the truck was searched and released, police said.

Mr. Warf, 31, also was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, police said.

Chesterfield: Tools worth $747 were stolen from the bed of a 1992 Ford pickup truck in the 7800 block of King's Bench Place between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Chelsea Beach: A 14-foot aluminum boat and a three-horsepower motor worth $950 were stolen from a private pier in the 600 block of Riverside Drive between 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Saturday.
