Joshua Kimmel awarded $500 music scholarship

Joshua Kimmel, 18, a 1995 Francis Scott Key High School graduate, has been awarded the Stewart W. Myers Memorial Scholarship by Stu's Music Shop of Westminster.

The scholarship is based on musical ability. Mr. Kimmel submitted a tape of his performance in "Fiddler on the Roof." He received a $500 award to be applied toward tuition.

During high school, he was active in the Francis Scott Key chorus and show choir and studied voice privately with Debra Kent and Dr. Paul Walker of Carroll Community College.

Mr. Kimmel performed four years in All-County Chorus and in 1994 in the All-State Chorus.

He also was nominated for the All-Eastern U.S. Regional Honors Chorus in 1995.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kimmel. The younger Kimmel plans to attend Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio as a music major.
