Carnival proceeds help fight muscular dystrophy


The Westminster Recreation Department will sponsor the 12th annual Muscular Dystrophy Carnival from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 12 at the City Playground near Longwell Avenue.

Activities will include games for kids, face painting, grab bags and pony rides. Games and activities are 10 cents and 25 cents. Baked goods and raffled items will be available.

Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

* Westminster: A resident of West Main Street reported Thursday that the passenger-side window of his car had been broken. Loss is estimated at $100.

A Sykesville resident reported on Friday that two tags were removed from his car while it was parked on North Court Street. Loss was estimated at $24.

A resident of Logan Drive reported Friday that a tire was slashed on her car. Loss was estimated at $100.

Employees at the E. F. Huffman Construction Co. on East Main Street reported Friday that a storage shed was broken into and tolls were taken. Loss estimate was not available.

A resident of West Main Street reported on Friday that a Huffy 10-speed bike was taken from in front of the residence. Loss was estimated at $350.

A resident of Pennsylvania Avenue reported on Saturday that the screen door to her residence was damage. The damage was estimated at $50.

An employee of Mack Homes in Owings Mills reported Wednesday that windows were damaged at houses under construction on Wentworth Court. Loss was estimated at $1,600.


* Sandymount: Reese and Gamber responded to an electrical fire in a house on Pheasant Run at 8:58 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 30 minutes.

* Westminster: Westminster and Reese responded to a fire alarm on Monroe Street at 4:51 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 26 minutes.

Westminster responded to an auto fire on Route 32 at Route 97 at 5:17 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 20 minutes.
