Man charged in shooting of teen-ager

County police issued a warrant Tuesday afternoon for the arrest of a Severn man on charges that he allegedly tried to kill a 16-year-old boy after a weeklong dispute, officials said.

The boy, Royce Sollers of the 1700 block of Richfield Drive in Severn, is in critical but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, a hospital spokesman said. Officers found him about 4:35 p.m. Tuesday lying on a sidewalk at Candlewick Court and Indian Drive with a gunshot wound in his side, police said.

Police said they believe the youth was shot after a quarrel with a man that involved the victim's sister.

Curtis Maurice Williams, 19, whose last address was in the 8300 block of Pioneer Drive, was charged with attempted first-degree murder in the warrant.

When efforts to find Mr. Williams proved fruitless, police received the warrant for his arrest.
