Gilman's John Tucker will be introduced at a news conference today as Goucher College's new men's soccer and lacrosse coach.
Tucker will replace Steve Hornish, who resigned this spring. Hornish was the only coach either program had in their brief existence.
Hornish's soccer teams compiled a 49-42-5 record in six years, and his lacrosse teams were 14-32 during four seasons. Both programs compete in the Capital Athletic Conference.
Tucker has coached soccer at Gilman the past five years, going 41-18. But he is best known for his work in lacrosse, building a 72-19 record in six years and winning the past two MIAA A Conference championships.
"We're very sorry to see John move on. He did a wonderful job in both soccer and lacrosse," said Sherm Bristow, Gilman's athletic director. "He was a great role model for the kids and he handled himself in the most appropriate manner as a teacher and coach. I think the world of John and wish him great success at Goucher. They're really getting a top-quality product."
Tucker, who served as Loyola College's offensive coordinator in lacrosse for five years, was unavailable for comment.
