Don’t miss Orioles players, John Means & Paul Fry, as they guest host at our Brews and O’s event!

On the field: Last night's crowd of 41,927 was the largest in the history of Jacobs Field, the seventh sellout of the 1995 season and the 43rd sellout over the past two years. Not bad for a game in the middle of the week.

In the dugout: With the game out of reach in the late innings, Orioles manager Phil Regan cleared his bench. Leo Gomez batted for Rafael Palmeiro in the eighth, doubled and played an inning at first. Manny Alexander pinch-hit for Cal Ripken, only the fourth time during Ripken's consecutive-games streak that he was removed for a pinch hitter. Kevin Bass batted for designated hitter Harold Baines.

In the clubhouse: Orioles starter Mike Mussina says there's no rhyme or reason to all the homers he has allowed this year. They've come on various pitches, some fastballs, some breaking pitches, some changeups. "I don't know on what counts the 1,700 homers were allowed," he said. "I know I have to make a concentrated effort to keep the ball in the ballpark."
