A county police officer checking Towsers Branch Park for drug activity arrested a Glen Dale man Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Sgt. Jerard Fleming went to the park in the 2600 block of Evergreen Road in Odenton about 5:45 p.m. A man saw him approaching and quickly got into a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix and tried to drive off, but Sergeant Fleming stopped him because the car's windshield was cracked, police said.
Sergeant Fleming noticed that the man kept three fingers of his right hand closed as they talked. When the sergeant asked the man what he had in his right hand, the suspect lowered his hand and dropped something, police said. Sergeant Fleming searched the car, recovering two pieces of crack cocaine, police said.
Kevin Roy Brady, 41, of the 6900 block of Glenn Dale Road was charged with possession of cocaine. He was also charged with theft when police learned that the tags on the Pontiac were stolen from a Capitol
Heights woman in March.
