The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded $447,249 toward the construction of 64 townhouses and apartments on the site of the former Bradley Manor complex in Oakland, Garrett County.
The project is expected to take 10 months. The buildings of the Bradley Manor complex, a vacant, bankrupt development that was an eyesore in Oakland for years, were demolished this year.
Sponsored by the nonprofit Garrett County Community Action Committee, the $4.4 million project will include 32 townhouses and garden apartments for the elderly and 32 one- and two-bedroom units for families. Also planned is a four-acre public park.
