City man charged in abduction of officer, robbery

A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the brief abduction and robbery of an off-duty Baltimore policewoman and her friend.

The man is alleged to have accosted Officer Tracey Waters and her unidentified female friend as they were leaving the Five Mile House lounge in the 5300 block of Reisterstown Road at 2:15 a.m. May 29, according to Sam Ringgold, Baltimore Police Department spokesman. Police said a man ordered the two women into Officer Waters' 1994 Dodge Shadow, then forced Officer Waters to drive to the 3000 block of Reisterstown Road, where he told both women to get out of the car.

The vehicle was recovered at about 8:30 a.m., several miles away. Missing from the car were Officer Waters' handgun and badge. Police still were searching for the 9 mm Glock and badge yesterday.

Donald Lee Brown of 2418 Stockton St. is being held without bail at the Baltimore City Jail. He was arrested in the Baltimore City Detention Center, where he was being held in connection with another carjacking. Officials said they had no details about that incident.

Mr. Brown was transferred to the Eastern District and charged with armed carjacking, two counts of use of a handgun in commission of a crime, two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery and two counts of theft of more than $300.
