Manchester will hold its Fishing Derby tomorrow at the Walnut Street Pond. Children up to age 9 can register from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and will fish from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Children ages 10 to 14 will register at 10 a.m. and fish from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Daniel Schindler will have refreshments on sale. The Boy Scout plans to use his profits to buy materials to make some tables and benches for the Water Street Pond renovations.
Winners will be notified and prizes will be awarded Tuesday at the Council meeting.
On Sunday, the town will sponsor Children's Day. Children can enjoy petting animals supplied by Hodge Podge Farm at the Manchester Volunteer Fireman's Grounds.
The animals will be there from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Manchester Baptist Church children's choir will perform "Kids' Praise Celebration Station."
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.
* Hampstead: Hampstead responded to a diesel fuel spill in the 4000 block of Shiloh Ave. at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Fire officials said the spill occurred when the truck struck a concrete obstruction. Units were out about 70 minutes.
