Officer searches car, arrests 4 on drug charges

A county police officer arrested four people on drug charges late Sunday night after he stopped a car at Aquahart and Oakwood roads, officials said.

Officer Leroy Coking went to the area of Aquahart Road and Greenway S.E. about 11:50 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired. Police said he stopped a 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity driven by a man who matched the general description of a man described in the shooting report.

Police said the man gave Officer Coking permission to search the car. The patrolman found 8 ounces of suspected marijuana under the front passenger seat and arrested the driver and three passengers, police said.

Officer Charles Ravenell, who drove some of the suspects to the Northern District, said one took an ounce of marijuana from a shoe and tried to hide it in the back seat of the patrol car.

All four were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police identified them as Paul Elwood Ekstrom, 19, of the 8300 block of Dunn Road in Pasadena; Shannon Kally Bray, 18, of the 8000 block of Forest Glen Drive in Pasadena; Ryan Matthew Johnson, 19, of the 200 block of Crain Court Circle in Glen Burnie; and a 16-year-old Glen Burnie girl charged as a juvenile.

The shooting report proved to be false, police said.
