ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The surging Rochester Red Wings backed Arthur Rhodes with three more home runs and rolled to their sixth straight International League victory last night, 7-3, over the Richmond Braves.
Rhodes, who was sent down from the Orioles on May 26, gave up one earned run in seven innings, lowering his ERA in two Rochester starts to 3.14.
The Red Wings (33-22) have hit 18 homers in their past 10 games. Scott McClain and Greg Zaun connected with the bases empty and Paul Carey hit a three-run shot to finish Richmond starter and loser Chris Seelbach (2-3).
Rhodes (2-0) left with a 6-3 lead. He has allowed 12 hits in 14 innings, struck out 17 and walked five since being demoted from the Orioles.
Former Milwaukee Brewer Mark Lee bailed reliever Frank Seminara out of an eighth-inning jam and retired four straight hitters to gain his third save.
