Woman hurts her head when she falls off car

A Baltimore woman suffered head injuries Friday evening when she fell from the trunk of a friend's car while the friend was driving around the parking lot of the Maryland Correctional Institute at Jessup, state police said.

Mary L. Hines, 23, of the 800 block of Lyndhurst Street was treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released, police and hospital officials said. Her friend, Valerie Nixon, 35, of the 2100 block of Boyd Street in Baltimore, was charged with negligent driving.

Both women were visiting an inmate at Jessup. Ms. Hines was riding on the trunk of Ms. Nixon's Ford Tempo about 7:25 p.m. when she fell off, striking her head on the ground, police said.
