A 28-year-old Baltimore man was charged yesterday with assault with intent to murder, accused of hitting an undercover police officer with his car Friday night, police said.
Richard D. Wilson of the 4800 block of Belair Road was being held at the Eastern District yesterday pending an appearance before a court commissioner, said Sam Ringgold, a police spokesman. He said Mr. Wilson also was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault and resisting arrest.
Tactical Officer Kevin Forrester, 38, was released from Johns Hopkins Hospital yesterday morning after being treated for neck injuries and cuts to his arm.
He and another police officer were working undercover at the corner of Eager and Washington streets when they suspected that the occupants of a 1992 Hyundai Excel were involved in a drug transaction. When the officers approached the car and identified themselves, the driver sped off, striking Officer Forrester.
The driver and a female passenger were arrested a few blocks away, but the woman was released without being charged, Mr. Ringgold said.
