Robert E. Weal

Robert E. Weal, a retired moving company salesman, died Tuesday of cancer at his Parkville residence. He was 73.

Mr. Weal retired in 1994 from Advance Moving & Storage Co., where he had worked for 24 years. Earlier, he worked in sales for Weber Moving & Storage and Service Trucking Co. in Federalsburg, beginning in 1946.

His professional memberships included the Traffic Club of Baltimore.

Born and raised in the Pigtown section of Baltimore, he was a 1939 graduate of Polytechnic Institute. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and saw service in Germany. He was discharged with the rank of technical sergeant in 1946.

He was president of Colts Corral No. 3, an organization of fans of the one-time Baltimore professional football team. "In order to get more Colts players to attend our dances, Bob sent the invitations to their wives rather than the players," recalled his wife of 50 years, the former Rose Marie Kavesan.

Mr. Weal was a bowler and a member of Parkville American Legion Post 183.

A Mass of Christian burial is to be offered at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 6804 McClean Blvd., where Mr. Weal was a longtime communicant and lector.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sue Connelly of Glyndon and Karen Thanner of Hamilton; a brother, Edgar Weal Jr. of Ellicott City; and three grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 43025, Baltimore 21236-0025.
