A Riviera Beach man was arrested on assault charges Wednesday afternoon after a shotgun was fired at a neighbor, county police said.
Paul Mitten, 38, was visiting a house on Main Avenue, police said. Shortly before 2 p.m., he offered steamed shrimp to the wife of the man who lived there. The man became enraged and threatened to kill Mr. Mitten, police said.
Mr. Mitten left and walked south on Main Avenue. The man followed, shouting obscenities and carrying a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with double-O buckshot. Police said the gunman fired one blast, barely missing Mr. Mitten.
Harvey Burroughs, 43, of the 8500 block of Main Ave. was charged with assault with intent to murder, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm, police said.
