Dance theater to open branch for classes
Kinetics Dance Theatre in Ellicott City will open a branch at 1301 S. Charles St. in Baltimore for a two-week dance intensive June 19-23 and June 26-30.
The camp is offered to children ages 7 to 18, who will be grouped by age and ability.
The scheduled classes are ballet, modern, musical theater, composition and repertory.
Students will participate in a concluding performance the evening of June 30.
The program costs $250.
Half-scholarships are available.
Kinetics is based at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City.
Fishing tournaments set at Centennial Park
Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor three catch-and-release fishing tournaments tomorrow at Centennial Park, Route 108 and Centennial Lane.
The Tiny Tots Tournament for children 3 to 5 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The registration fee is $5.
Children in grades one through nine may win trophies in the Catch of the Day Tournament from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The registration fee is $7.
Parents must accompany children under 14.
A spring fishing tournament for shoreline or boat anglers 14 and older will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
First- and second-place winners will earn cash prizes for bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie and trout.
The entry fee is $14.
Maryland fishing regulations apply.
A fishing license is required for participants 16 and older.
* Ellicott City: 3700 block of Bonny Bridge Place: Two Ellicott City juveniles, 12 and 14, were charged with trying to break into a home through a basement window early Tuesday morning. An alarm system woke the residents. Police said one boy approached officers at the scene and said he saw "suspicious" men, but police said the boy and a friend later confessed, police said.
8800 block of Town and Country Blvd.: A red 1992 Acura Integra with Maryland tags AJS-971 was stolen late Tuesday or early Wednesday, police said.
* Elkridge: 5800 block of Bellanca Drive: Someone tried to enter a home by tampering with several window screens Tuesday, but police said there was no entry.
7000 block of Ducketts Lane: A black 1990 Ford Mustang with Maryland tags 349-AFK was stolen between Saturday and Tuesday, police said.
7200 block of Montevideo Road: A burgundy 1992 Nissan Sentra with Maryland tags BMH-447 was stolen Friday, police said.
