Glen Burnie man faces charges in knife attack

A 28-year-old Glen Burnie man was charged with assault with intent to commit murder and other offenses Monday after another man's face was slashed, county police said.

Police gave the following account:

The incident occurred about 7 a.m. Monday in a parking lot in the 7900 block of Allard Court, police said. Keith J. Wood, 21, of the 8000 block of E. Phirne Road in Glen Burnie, was arguing with Shanna Booth, 22, of the 8100 block of Harold Court.

The two exchanged blows, then another man stepped in and cut Mr. Wood's face with a 5-inch Swiss Army knife. The attacker drove off, but abandoned the car at Parke West Drive and Quarterfield Road because it had a flat tire. Officer Paul W. White Jr. found him in the woods.

Mr. Wood was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released.

Albert L. Barnes, 28, of the 300 block of Highland Road, also was charged with assault and battery, assault with intent to maim, and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure.
