Fishing tournaments set at Centennial Park

Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor three catch-and-release fishing tournaments Saturday at Centennial Park, Route 108 and Centennial Lane.

The Tiny Tots Tournament for children 3 to 5 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The registration fee is $5.

Children in grades one through nine may win trophies in the Catch of the Day Tournament from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The registration fee is $7. Parents must accompany children under 14.

A spring fishing tournament for shoreline or boat anglers 14 and older will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. First- and second-place winners will earn cash prizes for bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie and trout. The entry fee is $14. Maryland fishing regulations apply, and a fishing license is required for participants 16 and older. Information: 313-PARK.


* Elkridge: 6200 block of Mound St.: An air compressor was stolen after someone cut a lock off a storage shed Monday, police said.

5800 block of Steepridge Drive: A silver 1990 Oldsmobile Royale with Maryland tags PCF-537 was stolen Sunday, police said.

* Ellicott City: 5200 block of Sheppard Lane: An intruder activated a home alarm after kicking open a rear door Sunday. Police said the intruder fled before officers arrived.
