5 juveniles arrested on drug charges

Five juveniles were arrested Saturday morning after police found LSD and marijuana in their car, county police said.

Undercover officers had set up surveillance behind the Maryland Waterbed store at Crain Highway and Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, where several people were waiting to buy tickets to a Grateful Dead concert. The officers noticed that some of the people in line were smoking marijuana and inhaling nitrogen oxide from empty whip cream containers, police said.

About 1:35 a.m., a 1985 Oldsmobile left the parking lot. The officers stopped the car and smelled burning marijuana, police said. They searched the car and found 43 grams of marijuana, seven pieces of LSD, three pipes and three water bongs. Officers also seized $426, police said.

Arrested were a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old from Glen Burnie, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old from Millersville and a 17-year-old from Severna Park. All were charged as juveniles with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Two Baltimore men were arrested Saturday morning after a county police officer found methamphetamines and a recipe booklet for making the drug on two passengers in a car he stopped for speeding, officials said.

Officer Dennis Freeburger was on routine patrol around 5:50 a.m. when he saw the car heading south on Ritchie Highway near Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard. He stopped the 1991 Volkswagen Jetta and received the driver's permission to search the car and the five passengers' permission to search them, police said.

The officer found glass vials, 100 plastic bags, pill capsules and pipes containing 28.5 grams of methamphetamines. Officer Freeburger also recovered $2,400, tally sheets and a recipe booklet, police said.

Rocky Allen Peranio, 18, and Douglas Howell Brown Jr., 19, both of the 3900 block of Brooklyn Ave., were charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines, police said.
