Wisconsin man arrested after agent is punched

A Wisconsin man was arrested on assault charges Saturday afternoon after an off-duty U.S. Treasury agent was punched, county police said.

Robert Edward Johnson, 34, of the 2100 block of Hallmark Drive in Severn told police that a door-to-door magazine salesman became verbally abusive about 1 p.m. when his wife, Michelle Johnson, 35, refused to buy magazines from him. Mr. Johnson and the salesman began arguing, and the salesman allegedly punched Mr. Johson and walked off.

Mr. Johnson went inside, put on a shirt that had "U.S. Treasury Department" printed over the emblem of a large badge and called police. He then drove down the street and stopped the man. The two fought briefly, police said.

When officers arrived, Mr. Johnson was holding the salesman against his unmarked police car on his block.

John Henry Kennedy Jr., 27, of Milwaukee was charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct, police said.

The driver gave Officer Knight permission to search the car. The patrolman found a shotgun, 30 rounds of ammunition, a butterfly knife and two box cutters in the car, police said.
