Columbia acquires Citizens accounts
The Columbia Bank announced Monday the acquisition of about $10 million in customer accounts at Citizens Bank of Maryland's Normandy Plaza branch, which is closing.
Citizens agreed to transfer the accounts to Columbia Bank, which will offer services at its Ellicott City branch, 9151 Baltimore National Pike.
Society offers $500 for graphic arts study
The Advertising and Graphic Arts Society of Howard County is offering a $500 scholarship to a Howard County high school student entering the advertising or graphic arts field.
The scholarship will be based on talent, commitment to the field and need. Fine arts majors are not eligible.
Students must complete an application from their art teacher, guidance counselor or the society and return it with a 500-word essay on why the student is interested in a graphic arts career. The application package must include at least three color slides or color photocopies of advertising, graphic design, illustration or photography and a letter of acceptance indicating a full-time course of study.
Applications must be received by Monday.
Turf Valley promotes Turner, Leikvoll
Turf Valley Hotel and Country Club in Ellicott City has announced two promotions:
Christine Turner of Relay has been promoted to senior hotel sales manager. She has been at Turf Valley for four years.
Olaf Leikvoll of Manchester has been promoted to banquet manager. He is a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School and is seeking a degree in philosophy at Carroll Community College.
Oren D. Saltzman, co-chairman of Howard County Chamber of Commerce's membership committee, has opened a private law practice with offices at 8156 Main St., Ellicott City, and 402 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Towson.
Mr. Saltzman earned his law degree and master of laws in taxation from the University of Baltimore.
Lew Bloch has joined Computer Solutions GSD as a senior network technician.
