Hazardous waste will be collected by county May 6

The Howard County Department of Public Works will collect hazardous waste products from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 at the Cooksville Maintenance Shop, 14212 Frederick Road.

The department will collect household hazardous waste such as pesticides, photography chemicals and transmissions fluids.

The department will not accept commercial waste, compressed gas, dioxins, explosives, radioactive materials, kepones, PCBs, asbestos and button-type batteries.

Household wastes must be in separate, leak-proof containers.
