A Washington man was injured Sunday morning when about 12 cyclists racing in the Gateway commerce complex in Columbia's Owen Brown village collided, Howard County rescue officials said.
Preston Black, 37, was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of pelvis and collar bone fractures, said Lt. Sean Kelly, a spokesman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue.
Mr. Black's accident with another biker at Columbia Gateway Drive and Robert Fulton Drive at 11 a.m. Sunday caused a chain-reaction that led to a pileup, rescue officials said.
Mr. Black was treated Sunday and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Rescue officials said other cyclists suffered minor abrasions and were treated at the scene.
