Baltimore police yesterday reported no leads in two unrelated fatal shootings Thursday on the city's east side.
The latest slaying occurred about 8:45 p.m. when police officers responding to a call found Jesse James Peoples, 17, wounded and lying on his back in the 2300 block of E. Fayette St.
Witnesses told police that he had been standing on the sidewalk when a car pulled up and two men inside began firing. The Peoples youth of the 5700 block of Van Dyke Road in Baltimore County was hit several times.
He was taken by ambulance to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. Police said they knew of no motive or suspects.
Thursday's other slaying occurred about 3 a.m. in the 1600 block of Elrino St., in the O'Donnell Heights public housing complex. Police said Perry Hibler, 33, of the 7300 block of Wenig Ave. in Dundalk was walking with a woman when he was approached by two men.
One of the men, with a semiautomatic handgun, demanded money and started rifling through Mr. Hibler's pockets. During the robbery, Mr. Hibler was shot once in the upper back, police said.
He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m. Police said they knew of no suspects in the case.
