Dog bites Severna Park boy in face

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 13-year-old Severna Park boy needed 12 stitches to close wounds to his cheeks and lower lip after a dog roaming the neighborhood attacked him Tuesday night, county police said.

Aljando T. Demar, 13, of the 900 block of Ritchie Highway, was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The boy was playing on the Baltimore-Annapolis bike trail behind his house when a white German shepherd attacked him about 8:50 p.m., police said.

Ivette Tigs, 29, the boy's mother, told police that the dog had been in the neighborhood for two weeks. Police notified animal control officers.

Lane closings set for Ritchie Highway

Road building crews will be closing single lanes northbound and southbound on Ritchie Highway in Severna Park between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

Lane alterations and closures will take place between White's Road and Cypress Creek Road. The road closures are expected to last no longer than 15 minutes according to the State Highway Administration.

Additional closures may be required Tuesday.
