County school system wins 5 Telly awards

The Howard County Public School System's Department of Communications, which airs programming daily on the county's access channel 8, has received five Telly Awards for educational programs produced in 1994.

This brings the number of national Telly Awards the school system has captured during the past three years to seven.

Producer Nigel Reed took three Tellys for productions focusing on the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, "The Draft Office," "1775: Four Interviews" and "Decision at Baltimore."

These classroom videos were produced in partnership with the Ellicott City B & O Railroad Museum.

Mike Dubbs captured his second Telly for "Tips for Taking Tasks." Producer Glenn Scimonelli won his second Telly for "Tribute to Deborah Kendig," former chairwoman of the Howard County Board of Education.
