The Negro League Ballplayers Association is sponsoring its first Charity Baseball Card and Autograph Show to benefit association members. It will be held April 22 and 23 at the Carrolltown Center Mall in Eldersburg, on Liberty Road one mile east of Route 32. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 22 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 23.
Members of the Negro League Ball Players Association expected to attend are Monte Irvin, Walter "Buck" Leonard, Max Manning, Stanley Glenn, Gene Benson, Wilmer Harris, Wilmer Fields, Larry Kimbrough, James Cohen, Russell Awkard, Josh Gibson Jr., Bill Pope, Jimmy Dean, Mahlon Duchett, Bill Cash, Al Wilmore, Gordon "Happy" Hopkins, Leroy Ferrell and Bob Romby.
Four former Baltimore Colts Hall of Famers will also appear and donate their autograph fees to the association: Gino Marchetti, Lenny Moore, Jim Parker and John Mackey. Autograph hours are noon to 4 p.m. both days.
A silent auction to benefit the association will also take place. Mr. Memorabilia Auction Shows and Uncle Dave's Baseball Card Shop are helping with the show and donating portions of their proceeds to the association.
