NBA -- Named San Antonio Spurs C David Robinson Player of the Week.

Golden State Warriors -- Suspended G Latrell Sprewell for two games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team and for repeated violations of rules that prohibit unexcused absences from official team functions.

Philadelphia 76ers -- Placed G Jeff Malone on the injured list with an injury to his right heel. Signed G Corey Gaines to a contract for the remainder of the season. Signed F Alaa Abdelnaby to a second 10-day contract.


Ohio State -- Announced that sophomore G Marlene Stollings and sophomore center Amy Turner will transfer.

Wisconsin-Green Bay -- Named Mike Heideman men's basketball coach.


Atlanta Falcons -- Signed free-agent S Bobby Evans, who had been playing for the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to a one-year contract.

Cincinnati Bengals -- Signed unrestricted free-agent WR Tom Waddell (25 catches for 244 yards with the Chicago Bears).

Detroit Lions -- Re-signed unrestricted free-agent T Scott Conover. Exercised their option to receive the Arizona Cardinals' sixth-round draft choice as compensation for T Larry Tharpe.

Green Bay Packers -- Traded DB Terrell Buckley to the Miami Dolphins for past considerations. Signed DB Rickey Dixon, formerly with the Bengals and Los Angeles Raiders, and LB James Willis.

Los Angeles Raiders -- Named John Guy defensive assistant.

New England Patriots -- Signed two free agents -- DT Reggie White (Milford Mill), who had been with the San Diego Chargers, and WR Will Moore, who had been playing in the CFL.

New Orleans Saints -- Signed free-agent LB Richard Harvey, who played last year for the Denver Broncos, to a two-year, no-option contract.

New York Giants -- Signed RB Herschel Walker to a three-year contract.

Seattle Seahawks -- Acquired WR Ricky Proehl (51 catches for 651 yards) from the Arizona Cardinals for a fourth-round draft pick.

Washington Redskins -- Announced that the team will train in Frostburg State.

CFL -- Signed a new three-year television contract with The Sports Network.

Memphis Mad Dogs (CFL) -- Signed K Chris Gardner and DT Rodney Harding.


Kemper Open -- Announced that Greg Norman, Lee Janzen and Mark O'Meara have been added to the field at the Kemper Open on June 5-11 at TPC at Avenel in Potomac.


NHL -- Named the Quebec Nordiques' Owen Nolan Player of the Week.

Buffalo Sabres -- Announced that they would not discipline G Dominik Hasek for his arrest on drunken-driving charges Sunday.

Calgary Flames -- Returned LW Vesa Viitakoski to AHL Saint John.

Chicago Blackhawks -- Assigned G Jimmy Waite to IHL Indianapolis.

Detroit Red Wings -- Acquired D Viachaslav Fetisov from the New Jersey Devils for a third-round draft choice.

New Jersey Devils -- Signed C Steve Brule and D Rickard Persson; assigned them to AHL Albany.

Philadelphia Flyers -- Reassigned G Aaron Israel from ECHL Johnstown to AHL Hershey.

Vancouver Canucks -- Signed LW Alek Stojanev to a new multi-year contract.
