Walter W. Phillips


Walter W. Phillips, a retired longshoreman, died Monday at Northwest Hospital Center after a stroke. The Lochearn resident was 75.

The Richmond, Va., native retired in 1981 after 35 years as a longshoreman on the Baltimore waterfront. He came to Baltimore as a child and was educated in city schools. He served in the Army during World War II.

Services were to be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Gillis Memorial Community Church, 4016 Park Heights Ave. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Crawford; a brother Goldie Phillips of Baltimore; and many nieces and nephews.
