Police arrest 2 suspects in $6,000 home burglary

Two men suspected in a $6,000 burglary were arrested Monday afternoon in Pasadena by police acting on a tip from a witness, county police said.

The witness saw the men dump a jewelry box in a trash bin behind the Wheel Inn in the 2500 block of Mountain Road, police said. The box contained jewelry and a receipt listed to a house on Whites Cove Road, police said. The witness also wrote down the tag number of the men's car, police said.

Officer Kathy Sauerhoff spotted the car and followed it to a home in the 7800 block of Centergate Court. The driver and passenger were arrested at the home, said police, who said they found property belonging to the victim of the burglary.

The victim told police the burglary of her Whites Cove Road home occurred between 6:55 a.m. and noon Monday. The front door was pried open with a screwdriver, and the home ransacked, police said.

Jeffrey Martin Jablon, 18, of the 7800 block of Mansion House Crossing and Joel J. Herard, 20, of the 7800 block of Centergate Court were charged with burglary, police said.
