Liquor store loses cigarettes in burglary

Thieves broke the front plate glass doors of a Pasadena liquor store Monday morning and stole several cartons of cigarettes, county police said.

A Northern District officer went to Grand Ritchie Liquors in the first block of Mountain Road shortly before 2 a.m. to investigate an alarm. He found the front door shattered, a sledgehammer on the ground and a large cardboard box in front of the store, police said.

Officers believe the box was used for loading the cigarettes into a vehicle.

Just 10 minutes before the break-in, another officer had checked the store, which had been burglarized in January and February and last fall, police said.
