No leads reported in slayings of teen-ager, 42-year-old man

Police reported no leads yesterday in the Monday night slayings of a 16-year-old Pimlico-area youth and a 42-year-old man who were shot in unrelated incidents on the city's west side.

The latest homicide occurred about 9:40 p.m. when police said the teen-ager, Tyrone Lee, of the 1600 block of Violet Ave., was found lying in the intersection of Presstman and Brunt streets, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The youth was pronounced dead at 10:18 p.m. at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Several people who were in the area at the time of the shooting were interviewed by homicide detectives, but none was able to provide information that may lead to a suspect or a motive, police said yesterday.

The other slaying occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when police said a 42-year-old man who was shot as he walked outside his home in the 4000 block of Penhurst Ave., in the Arlington neighborhood.

Detective Chris Graul of the homicide unit said Michael A. Tyler was found lying in the street by Northwestern District officers responding to a report of a shooting and was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.

Detective Graul said several shell casings found in the street indicated at least two large-caliber, semiautomatic handguns were used.

The detective said it appeared the victim knew his killers and that he apparently accompanied them off his porch and into the street, where he was shot at close range.

Police said that they had made no arrests and knew of no motive.
