Aberdeen Eagles

1994 record: 4-6. Coach: Sandy Levin.

Top players: Melissa Bender, Sr., A; MaeganThompson, Sr., M; Sarah Collis, Jr., M; Nicole Scott, M.

Outlook: Levin has a positive season outlook that includes bettering last year's record, when the team went out in the first round of their Class 1A-2A regional playoffs.

Bel Air Bobcats

1994 record: 5-7. Coach: Ken Zorbach.

Top players: Karen Zimmerman, Sr., GK; Katie Merrick, Sr., D; Joie Acosta, Sr., D; Lori Vineyard, Sr., D; Margy Gentile, Jr., D; Jean Tyrrell, Sr., M; Karen Wagner, Sr., M; Erin Alex, Sr., A; Lauryn Fiorelli, Sr., A; Katie Bentz, Jr., A.

Outlook: Defense, where Merrick and Acosta head a veteran group, should be a strength and might have to carry the team while the offense works on compensating for a lack of speed. This is the first Bel Air varsity head coaching position for Zorbach, who formerly taught and coached at Aberdeen.

C. Milton Wright Mustangs

1994 record: 11-4. Coach: Kathy Breymaier.

Top players: Becky Gerhart, Jr. M; Miranda James, Jr., M; Annie Sappington, Jr., M; Jackie Bangert, Sr., D; Casey Drivnack, Sr., D; Emily Steinmetz, Jr., D; Jen Kuehn, Jr., D; Kim Kalista, GK.

Outlook: The regional champions -- they lost to Dulaney in the state semifinals -- return Gerhart (county scoring leader with 42 goals) among four first-team All-County players, plus James, a second-teamer in her first year playing the sport. Speed, experience and confidence should help extend a two-year winning streak in the county league, and pave the way for another state playoff spot.

Edgewood Rams

1994 record: 3-8. Coach: Michelle McGinley.

Top players: Ronilyn Kirby, Sr., A; Mona Patel, Sr., A; Jessica Lancaster, Sr., M; Amy Nemec, Sr., M; Lori Nemec, Sr., M; Amy Price, Sr., D,; Shannon Michaloski, Sr., GK.

Outlook: Seven seniors from last season (the team lost in the first round of the Class 1A-2A regional playoffs) give the team experience on attack and defense. The attack, guided by Kirby and Lancaster, will be strong, but the defense has only two seniors in Michaloski and Price. Big plays will be needed at both ends of the field if there is to be noticeable won-lost improvement.

Fallston Cougars

1994 record: 12-2. Coach: Nancy Ferguson.

Top players: Krissy Battenfeld, A, Sr.; Dana Fairley, A, Sr.; Julie Haire, A, Sr.; Kathleen Turk, A, Sr.; Jenny Weber, A, Sr.; Courtney Benner, D, Jr.; Courtney Jenkins, D, Jr.; Rachel Simon, D, Jr.; Jinae Szerensits, D, Sr.; Jessie Russo, GK.

Outlook: Four first-team and two second-team choices from last year's All-County team are back, accompanied by more talent. The team won its Class 1A-2A regional title, then lost to eventual champion Loch Raven in the state semifinals. A return trip is likely.

John Carroll Patriots

1994 record: 6-7. Coach: John Hughes.

Top players: Jessica Schrader, Sr., A; Susan Butcher, Sr., M; Meaghan Giorno, Jr., M; Britney Whitehurst, Soph., M; Meghan Kwasniak, Sr., D; Kathy Raymond, Jr., D; Katie Tiburzi, Soph., D.

Outlook: With the graduation of offensive stars Beanie Lund and Krystin Porcella, team captain Schrader has been moved from defense to attack, and Giorno, a former field player, from goal to midfield. Hughes said his goal is to get as close as possible to a winning season.

Joppatowne Mariners

1994 record: 9-3. Coach: Pam Reich.

Top players: Jackie Bass, Sr., A; Jaimie Doss, Sr., A; Eva Pierorazio, Sr., M; Jen Aquia, M; Lisa Maly, Sr., D; Nat Majerus, Sr., D; Karen Lemley, Sr., GK.

Outlook: Returning All-County choices Maly and Lemley should lead a solid squad back to the Class 1A-2A playoffs, where it was a finalist a year ago. Among the team goals: play well against the bigger schools.

North Harford Hawks

1994 record: 2-8. Coach: Barb Waite.

Top players: Wendy Dieter, A, Sr.; Amy Pistel, A, Sr.; Melissa Citrano, A, Jr.; Erin Kroneberger, D, Sr.; Chrissy Sciuto, D, Jr.

Outlook: Fourth-year regular Kroneberger heads an experienced defense. Dieter, another fourth-year player, is expected to be the offensive leader. With 13 returning players, there is plenty of depth.
