Broadneck student chosen for county school board post

The Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils has selected Nicole St. Pierre as the new student representative to the Anne Arundel County Board of Education.

Nicole, a junior at Broadneck Senior High, will be the second member of her family to serve on the school board. Her sister, Desira, served from July 1, 1993, to June 30.

Nicole's appointment, which must be confirmed by the governor, will take effect in the summer. The governor has never rejected the CRASC nominee for student board member.

Anne Arundel County is the only jurisdiction to grant full voting privileges to student school board members, allowing them to make decisions even on personnel and finances.
