Woman raped by man who offered to drive her home

A Washington woman told county police Wednesday morning that a man who promised to give her a ride from her cousin's house in Southeast Washington to her home in the Northeast section of the city raped her in some woods near Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel, officials said yesterday.

The 25-year-old woman said her attacker, whom she knew only as Ray, started toward her house, then headed out of Washington and drove to Whiskey Bottom Road and Laurel View Court. He drew a .38-caliber revolver and threatened to kill her if she did not submit.

Afterward, the man dropped off the woman at an undisclosed location in Laurel, police said. She called police about 5:30 a.m.
