1 Western (26-0) -- Last week's ranking: 1. Chanel Wright averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds to lead the Doves to their second consecutive class 4A state championship. In Thursday's semifinal, Wright scored 22 and Kimberly Smith added 14 as Western defeated Prince George's County's Oxon Hill, 62-45. Saturday, Wright scored 19 second-half points as the Doves rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to beat Arundel, 51-33, in the championship game.

2 Hammond (23-3) -- Last week's ranking: 2. The Golden Bears won their second straight Class 2A state championship and their third in the past four years. Friday, Tiki Nicholson scored 18 as Hammond routed Wicomico County's Parkside, 53-31, in a semifinal game. In Saturday's championship game, Nicholson scored 25 to lead the Golden Bears to a 57-51 victory over Fallston.

3 Arundel (25-1) -- Last week's ranking: 3. Making their first

appearance in the state semifinals in the school's history, the Wildcats held off Montgomery Blair, 40-32, in a Class 4A state semifinal game on Thursday. In Saturday's championship game, the Wildcats took a 19-17 halftime lead before losing to Western, 51-33.

4 Fallston (22-2) -- Last week's ranking: 4. The Cougars used 18 points by Candy Credito to defeat Washington County's South Hagerstown, 61-43, in a Class 2A state semifinal game on Friday. In Saturday's championship game, Credito scored 14 in a 57-51 loss to Hammond.

5 Lake Clifton (17-3) -- Last week's ranking: 5. The Lakers did not play.

6 South Carroll (22-2) -- Last week's ranking: 6. The Cavaliers did not play.

7 St. Frances (20-7) -- Last week's ranking: 7. The Panthers did not play.

8 Severna Park (20-4) -- Last week's ranking: 8. The Falcons did not play.

9 Seton Keough (24-3) -- Last week's ranking: 9. The Gators did not play.

10 Mount Hebron (18-8) -- Last week's ranking: 10. The Vikings built a seven-point halftime lead before dropping a 70-68 overtime decision to Prince George's County's Bladensburg in a Class 3A state semifinal on Thursday.

11 Towson (22-1) -- Last week's ranking: 11. The Generals did not play.

12 Westminster (19-5) -- Last week's ranking: 12. The Owls did not play.

13 Howard (16-9) -- Last week's ranking: 13. The Lions did not play.

14 Wilde Lake (17-7) -- Last week's ranking: 15. The Wildecats, coming off a 9- 14 season, won their first state title. Making its first appearance in the state semifinals since 1976, Wilde Lake defeated Worcester County's Pocomoke, 64-47, in a Class 1A state semifinal game on Friday. In Saturday's championship game, Kristen Riismandel scored 17 to lead the Wildecats to a

56-46 victory over Southern of Garrett County.

15 St. Mary's (18-10) -- Last week's ranking: 14. The Saints did not play.

16 Old Mill (16-7) -- Last week's ranking: 16. The Patriots did not play.

17 Mount de Sales (16-9) -- Last week's ranking: 17. The Sailors did not play.

18 Broadneck (16-7) -- Last week's ranking: 18. The Bruins did not play.

19 Poly (19-6) -- Last week's ranking: 19. The Engineers did not play.

20 C. Milton Wright (17-9) -- Last week's ranking: 20. The Mustangs, making their first appearance in the state semifinals, lost to Montgomery County's Walt Whitman, 66-42, in a Class 3A state semifinal game on Thursday.
