Southwest Missouri -- Men's basketball coach Mark Bernsen (48-37 overall; 16-11 this season) resigned after the board of regents voted 5-1 to buy out the last year of his contract for $179,299.

Oregon -- Named former Denver Broncos assistant Charlie Waters defensive coordinator.

Tennessee -- Added a year to the contract of men's basketball coach Kevin O'Neill, taking it through the 1999-2000 season. Announced that women's basketball G Tiffany Woosley, out since Jan. 10, will miss the rest of the season to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery.


NFL -- Unanimously approved the sale of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Malcolm Glazer. The competition committee recommended against bringing back instant replay.

Dallas Cowboys -- Agreed to terms with TE Jay Novacek on a three-year contract.

Los Angeles Rams -- Signed unrestricted free-agent G Dwayne White, who had been with the New York Jets, to a five-year deal worth $10 million, including a $3 million signing bonus.San Francisco 49ers -- Coach George Seifert agreed to a two-year contract extension. He will be paid a guaranteed $4.3 million from 1995 to 1997.

Birmingham (CFL) -- Signed QB Danny Woodson, DB Anthony Drawhorn, LB Angelo Snipes and RB-KR Darrell Wallace.

Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) -- Signed QB Kerwin Bell.
