* Tuition fees were announced for the new Howard Community " College. County residents would pay $150 per semester as full-time students, or $13 per credit hour part-time. Fees for out-of-county and out-of-state students would be higher. The facility was scheduled to open in the fall of 1970.
* In a report released by the Howard County Grand Jury, Columbia was described as "a convenient place to push, purchase, and consume drugs," but also as a place where such alleged drug traffic was concentrated, and therefore easy to detect.

* The Volunteer Fire Company of Sykesville announced that they were ready to answer calls at their new telephone number: Sykesville 39-F-33.
