Carroll County school officials have announced opportunities for students to fulfill public service requirements for graduation:

* Deer Park Recreation Council: Help is needed with seasonal sports activities, including soccer, basketball, karate, working in the concession stand and planning activities.

* Piney Run Nature Center: Assistants 14 and older are needed to help in the center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays at 30 Martz Road, Eldersburg.

* Association of Retarded Citizens of Carroll County: Help is needed with events such as bingo parties and clerical work at 100 Kriders Church Road, Westminster.

* Carroll Hospice: Office support, fund raising, yard work and activities in Westminster. Hours vary.

* Carroll County Youth Services Bureau: Tutoring middle schoolers.

* Bear Branch Nature Center: Students 14 and older are needed to help in the center.

* Multiple Sclerosis Walk: Walkers and helpers are needed April 1 at the Carroll County Farm Museum. Applications are available at middle and high schools.

* March of Dimes Walk: Walkers and helpers are needed April 30 at the Carroll County Farm Museum. Applications are available at middle and high schools or call (800) 927-WALK.

* Therapeutic Recreation Council: Score keepers are needed for a March duckpin bowling league from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

* Children's Fair: Students are needed to help with games and HTC face painting at a preschool and kindergarten children's fair from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13.

* Therapeutic horseback riding: Students are needed to help youths with disabilities ride horseback and perhaps baby-sit at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. April 11 and 12 through May at the Carroll County Ag Center.

Spring bowling league: Students are needed to help youths with disabilities from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays March 6 to May 8 at Thunderhead Lanes in Westminster.

* Therapeutic art program: Students are needed to help with art projects by youths with disabilities from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Tuesdays March 7 to April 25 at Robert Moton Elementary School.

* Adult art program: Students are needed to help adults with disabilities do art projects from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays March 15 to May 3 at Carroll Springs School.

* Parents Anonymous: The Parent's Anonymous Children's Program provides a safe haven for children from troubled families. Parents who attend support group meetings are invited to bring their children. Students are needed to provide child care from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster.

Students are trained and supervised by professionals.
