A South Baltimore woman was arrested Tuesday night and charged with attacking a security officer at a Jamesway store after taking some videotapes without paying for them, county police said.

A security officer at the store in the 4200 block of Postal Court said he saw a woman enter the store shortly after 8 p.m. and take four videos from the shelf. The officer told police that the woman left the store without paying for the items, valued at a total of $77.

The officer said he followed the woman and identified himself as a security officer. The woman ran to the parking lot, where the officer caught her, police said. The woman kicked the officer in the chest several times and pulled his hair, but he managed to hold her until police arrived.

Deborah Anne Roy, 28, of the 1100 block of Bayard St. was charged with battery and misdemeanor theft, police said.
