EMMITSBURG -- Susie Rowlyk scored a game-high 19 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to its 16th consecutive victory, 88-61, over St. Francis (N.Y.) in a Northeast Conference tournament first-round game before 785 last night at Knott Arena.
The Mountaineers (22-5, 17-1) forced 26 turnovers and led by as many as 33 points in the second half. Nikki Schroyer had 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Mount.
The game's decisive stretch came early when the Mount ran off 13 unanswered points, ending with Rowlyk's layup with 9:59 left in the first half, to take a 27-9 lead.
The Terriers countered with a nine-point run to cut the lead to 36-24 with 2:58 remaining, but Mount St. Mary's increased the margin to 43-26 at the end of the half. Mount St. Mary's held St. Francis to 36 percent shooting and forced 11 turnovers and also out-rebounded the Terriers, 23-15, in the first half.
Mount point guards Keisha McCatty had nine points, five rebounds and five steals and Amy Langville had eight points and five assists.
