Cleveland Cavaliers -- Signed F Fred Roberts to a second 10-day contract.

Miami Heat -- Placed G Khalid Reeves on the injured list with a sprained left ankle. Signed G Kevin Pritchard to a 10-day contract.


LPBT -- Named Anne Marie Duggan 1994 Player of the Year.


Coastal Carolina -- The Associated Press reported erroneously last week that the school was banned from postseason play for four years because of rules violations in its basketball program. The school was banned from postseason play for one year but was put on probation for a total of four years.

Kentucky -- Announced that it will not renew the contract of women's basketball coach Sharon Fanning (134-97; 14-14 this season).

Louisiana State -- Extended the contract of women's basketball coach Sue Gunter for one year through the 1995-96 season.

Stanford -- Named Mose Rison wide receivers coach and Phil Zacharias defensive line and special teams coach.

Temple -- Women's basketball coach Charlene Curtis announced her resignation, effective at the end of the season.

Tennessee -- Named Andy McCollum linebackers coach.

Atlanta Falcons -- Signed unrestricted free-agent WR J. J. Birden (48 catches for 637 yards last season for the Kansas City Chiefs) to a two-year contract worth $2.9 million.

Chicago Bears -- Re-signed TE Keith Jennings and S Cedric Walker to two-year contracts and RB Tim Worley to a one-year deal.

Denver Broncos -- Signed unrestricted free-agent DB Tim Hauck, who had been with the Green Bay Packers since 1991. Signed DB Lionel Washington, who has started for the Los Angeles Raiders the past eight seasons, to a three-year contract reportedly worth $2.5 million.

New England Patriots -- Obtained the rights to DL Tim Roberts from Houston for a fifth-round draft pick after the Oilers declined to match an offer sheet.

New York Jets -- Signed TE Lavar Ball and WR Alan Allen and sent them on loan to World League London.

San Diego Chargers -- Named John Hinek business manager and announced that he will continue as director of college scouting. Extended their lease at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium until 2020 after city officials promised $60 million in improvements; the lease had been due to expire in 2003.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Signed unrestricted free-agent WR Clarence Verdin, a former Washington Redskin and a two-time Pro Bowl kick returner , who had been with the Falcons, to a two-year contract.


NHL -- Named two Dallas Stars goaltenders, Darcy Wakaluk and Andy Moog, co-NHL Players of the Week.

Montreal Canadiens -- Recalled C Craig Darby from AHL Fredericton. Assigned LW Gerry Fleming to Fredericton.

Ottawa Senators -- Assigned RW Scott Levins and C Steve Larouche to AHL Prince Edward Island.

Quebec Nordiques -- Returned G Garth Snow to AHL Cornwall.

St. Louis Blues -- Traded C Craig Janney and future considerations to the San Jose Sharks for D Jeff Norton, a fourth-round pick in the 1997 draft and future considerations.

Tampa Bay Lightning -- Assigned RW Rich Sutter to IHL Atlanta.

Toronto Maple Leafs -- Recalled G Pat Jablonski from IHL Chicago after completing a 14-day conditioning program. Assigned LW Ken Belanger to AHL St. John's.

Washington Capitals -- Assigned D Ken Klee to AHL Portland.
