An unarmed man robbed a High's store in Linthicum on Saturday and left the store's clerk bound and gagged, county police said.
The man walked into the store in the 400 block of S. Camp Meade Road shortly after 5:30 p.m., handed the clerk a note demanding money, then jumped the counter and took money from the cash register, police said.
The man then forced the woman into a back room and made her sit in a chair as he tied her arms with an electric cord and bound her feet with duct tape. He also put tape over the woman's mouth before leaving the store, police said.
Two witnesses told police that the man drove off in a light blue car that may have been a Honda Accord. The clerk eventually freed herself and hit the alarm button, police said.
The robber was described as a light-skinned black male, about 25 to 28 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was clean-shaven and had crew cut hair. He was last seen wearing olive green pants, a camouflage jacket, work boots, brown or gray gloves and a loop earring. He was carrying a brown duffel bag containing a white or yellow construction hard hat and the duct tape, police said.
Woman is arrested on prostitution charge
An undercover officer arrested a Brooklyn Park woman Saturday night after she agreed to have sex with him for $20, county police said.
Officer Roger Crawford was driving north in the 4100 block of Ritchie Highway about 10 p.m. when he saw a woman hitchhiking. He picked up the woman and asked if she was "working," the street term for engaging in prostitution, police said.
The woman said she was and asked Officer Crawford if he was a police officer. He told her he was not a police officer, authorities said. At that point, the woman said the sex act would cost $20, police said. Officer Crawford then identified himself as a police officer and arrested the woman, police said.
Margaret Lee Watkins, 29, of the 5000 block of Brookwood Road, was charged with solicitation for prostitution, police said.
