Kenneth M. Setton 80, an expert on medieval Europe and th dawn of the Renaissance, died Saturday in Princeton, N.J., from complications of a stroke. He spent nearly 20 years on his four-volume "The Papacy and the Levant, 1204-1571," a classic study of the era, and was editor in chief of the five-volume "History of the Crusades."
